AUSTIN, Texas — *An Areal Flood Advisory is in effect for portions of Blanco, Burnet, Hays, Travis, and Williamson counties until 6 p.m. Saturday. Minor flooding is possible. An Areal Flood Advisory is in effect for portions of Bastrop, Caldwell, and Hays counties until 8 p.m. Saturday.*

All eyes are on the forecast for the Texas season opener at DKR-Texas Memorial Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m., and the late kickoff may end up helping us avoid the highest rain and storm chances over the weekend.

The latest computer models suggest that although we will have fairly widespread storms on Saturday, the highest rain chances will be during the mid and late afternoon, with a drying trend in time for the evening kick off.

However, that's not set in stone, and we still need to be prepared for some rain, especially for tailgaters who will be outdoors in the afternoon ahead of the game.

Here's the latest timeline on when to expect stormy weather.

RELATED: The Texas Football season kicks off Saturday. Here's what you need to know

3:30 p.m. - Following a mainly dry morning, expect scattered to widespread showers and storms by mid-afternoon. These storms could produce heavy rain and localized flooding in addition to gusty winds and lightning.

If you have plans to tailgate ahead of the game, make sure you have a backup plan to head indoors if storms roll through.

5 p.m. - Rain and storms continue to drift southward across Central Texas. The highest rain chances for Austin will be in the lead up to the game. We'll keep a close eye on the potential for any lightning delays.

7 p.m. - The latest computer models suggest that, by kickoff, the bulk of the rain will be south of the Austin area. This would be good news for the game with just a cloudy sky and temperatures in the low to mid-80s.

However, it's still not a slam dunk. We'll leave our rain chances at about 30% for kickoff and 20% by the end of the game. Remember, if lightning is detected within 8 to 10 miles of the stadium, then the game will have a lightning delay.

10 p.m. - Rain chances should continue to trend lower through the late evening for the fourth quarter and end of the game. To be on the safe side, we still recommend having the poncho on hand.

Game attendees should make sure to pack a poncho, as umbrellas are not allowed in DKR-Texas Memorial Stadium. For everything else you need to know about attending the game, check out our game day guide.
